Care Instructions
Washing:
- Washing instructions can be found in the jacket's inner pocket.
- The jacket can be hand-washed with a down detergent at a maximum of 30°C/86°F. Please turn it inside out, close the zipper, perform an additional rinse, and do not use fabric softener.
- Remove the item from the machine, loosen it slightly, and spin it lightly at the end (max. 600 rotations)!
Drying:
- Dry in the tumble dryer at a maximum of 60°C/140°F and be sure to add 2-3 tennis balls for better fluffing.
- Conduct multiple drying cycles and remove the item from the machine after each cycle, shake or fluff it well, and let it cool in between.
- The dryer must be set on a timed program to fully dry the down.
- If a dryer is not used, the jacket can be placed on a drying rack on sunny days, frequently shaken, allowing air from above and below to reach the jacket.
When Is the Drying Process Complete?
- If the item still hasn't regained its original thickness, repeat the drying cycles until the jacket feels more filled than before.
- Depending on the waterproofing of the outer material, the drying process can take different lengths (at least 2 days, depending on the dryer model).
- The down must be completely dry. If the jacket is not properly dried and fluffed, there is a risk of clumping the down feathers. Moist down can smell, which dissipates when dry.
Tip:
- Down jackets should be dried in the tumble dryer with tennis balls from time to time or after each tour to remove excess moisture.
- Ventilating the jacket is better than washing it. DownWool® jackets rarely need to be washed as wool naturally possesses odour-resistant and dirt-repellent properties. For minor surface stains, we recommend gently cleaning the spot (as described above).
- Greasy and heavily soiled jackets can be hand-washed.
